The National Art School linked organization of the annual 2012 to the 18th Biennale in Sydney. The theme of both workshops and seminar was Imagine, Drawing in Dialogue-Narrative, Interpretation and Storytelling.  The National Art School linked the annual event to the 18th Biennale of Sydney and decided to continue the theme of drawing from the AIAS annual event in Wroclaw in 2011.

TAFA, our memberschool in Tianjin organized the workshops and the lectures ‘Kites of different Skies’ on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of AIAS.


The University College Falmouth organized workshops and Symposiumin 2009 around the themethe relationship between the visual arts and ecological thinking.

In 2008 the Faculty if Fine Arts of the Marmara University in Istanbul organized the workshops and the Debates. The theme of the Debates was Migration and Artistic Hybridization.

There were two workshops affiliated to the AIAS event in Zürich were organized by Andres Bosshard and Toshimi Ogasawara. For more information click here

Teresa Furtado, Annet Couwenberg and Margaret Wibmer organized the workshop ‘Take it from the world’ affiliated to the Debate ‘Neolandscape’..

In 2005 Annet Couwenbergh (MICA) and Uwe Poth (famous organizer of the Bentlage workshops) organized a workshop with the overall 2005 theme Techno cultures in art.
Again a great variety of students from all over the world worked together.

AKI Enschede, the Netherlands organised the workshops affiliated to the general assembly 2004. Students from all over the world worked in the spirit of the theme of the Seminar Eye Wonder. Site: Mediated Vision

This years workshops were organised separate from the general assembly.
In Bentlage Germany Uwe Poth from the AKI ( the Netherlands) organised the third edition of the Bentlage workshops. Every memberschool could send one student to the castle in Bentlage just across the border between Germany and the Netherlands.

Kaywon School of Art and Design, South Korea, composed the anual workshops around the thema ‘digital shaman’. Take a look at the pictures!

Wimbledon School of Art was running a series of workshops around the theme of “identities”, which could cut across all areas of the School’s work, focus on specific subjects and be cross-media collaborations. Members of the school have put forward proposals for the workshops individually, as groups of staff or students, or as collaborations. Take a look at the pictures!

The Ecoles d’Art de Geneva and Ecoles des Arts Décoratifs organised the yearly workshops, affiliated to the general assembly
During the general assembly a seminar was organised by the AIAS-board. The name
of the seminar was Drawing the Future.

The extra AIAS-prize-of-Honour workshop with the theme Destroyed Landscapes was organized by the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Halle.
Workshops in New York for theoretical AIAS professors on the theme Art education after 2000.

In May the second Bentlage workshops took place. Because more schools sent students, for our association it was an even bigger succes than the workshops 1995.
The Hochschule für Kunst and Design in Halle, Germany organised workshops in various disciplines, all connected to the theme “Destoyed Landscapes” based on the former brown coal mining fields in Geiseltal. Participants from various member-schools worked together.

A Steering Committee was founded which discussed “Art Education in the Future”.
This resulted in a report that was reviewed at the 1996 General Assembly in Linz, Austria.

From May the14th-28th, the Bentlage workshops were organized in the city of Rheine at the castle of Bentlage, participants from various AIAS member-schools worked together.
The participants did not represent their own school, but AIAS as a whole. The initiator of these workshops was the member-school Aki in Enschede, the Netherlands.
Workshops proceeded the General Assembly 1995 at the Toyo Bijutsu Gakko of Tokyo.
